Well Nettles Island is no place to be in a southern blow, it's exposed to the south and the docks are pretty rickety. We've been fairing well, but it's been a long couple of days, I have now been up for 42 hours, tying lines, checking pilings and worrying.... lots of worrying.
The dinghy fell of the davits and sunk, i managed to tie it to the pilings in the empty slip next to us, pilings are moving 1 to 2 feet when there's a good blow, so the lines have got to be given some attention when they go slack.
Things had gotten progressively worse since about 11pm last night (monday), until about 1 am today (wed) this storm pretty much stopped on top us to kick our ass and still hasn't moved on, but the good news is it's no longer getting worse.
A small boat that had been left here by an out of state couple sunk, very sad, it wasn't worth much I am sure, but still sad to see a mast sticking out of the water, I was pretty sure it wasn't going to make it, but there wasn't much I could do to help, the cleats on it were extremely small, i think they snapped, the boat spun and the rubbed a hole in itself of the dock, jib flew off somewhere in between. Also the Island Packet next to us, seems to have pulled it's posts over a bit and rubbed on the dock. Further inspection of everything and a full damage report when the storm clears and the sun comes up.
I have some videos from earlier today before things got really nasty http://shellbackventures.com/fay
